Tax Filing in Jamaica, Queens, NY

File your 2026 federal, New York State and New York City returns in English or Bangla, at our Hillside Avenue office or by virtual appointment.

Last updated: October 4, 2026

In short: Hillside Accounting Services files federal, New York State and New York City income tax returns at 167-13 Hillside Ave, 2nd Floor, Jamaica, NY 11432. Returns for tax year 2026 are due Thursday, April 15, 2027. We e-file with direct deposit, which the IRS now needs for nearly every refund, and we go through each step with you in English or Bengali (Bangla) before anything is filed.

Key Dates for Your 2026 Return

  • January 15, 2027: the last 2026 estimated tax payment, if you pay tax quarterly. You can skip it by filing and paying in full by February 1, 2027.
  • February 1, 2027: employers and clients must send your 2026 W-2s and most 1099-NECs.
  • April 15, 2027: federal Form 1040 and New York State returns (IT-201 or IT-203) are due, along with any tax you owe.
  • October 15, 2027: the last day to file if you got an extension. An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay.

The IRS and New York haven't published their 2027 calendars yet. These dates follow the published rules, and we'll update this page if one moves.

How Filing Works With Us

  1. Call or walk in. Call (646) 403-6500 or come to the second floor of 167-13 Hillside Ave. Virtual and after-hours appointments are available.
  2. Bring your papers. Our tax prep checklists list what to gather for families, immigrants and small businesses.
  3. We prepare your federal, New York State and New York City returns. City tax for New York City residents is figured on the state return, so most people don't file a separate city form.
  4. We go through the return with you, line by line, in English or Bangla, and answer every question before you sign.
  5. You sign the e-file authorization, and we e-file your returns with direct deposit for any refund.
  6. After filing, we help you track your refund and answer any letter the IRS or New York sends later.

Refunds Now Go to a Bank Account

The IRS generally stopped issuing paper refund checks after September 30, 2025. If your return has no bank account, or the account is wrong, the IRS sends a CP53E notice and gives you 30 days to add bank details in your IRS Online Account. If you don't respond, it mails a paper check after about six weeks (IRS: understanding your CP53E notice).

No bank account? A low- or no-cost account, or a prepaid card or app that comes with routing and account numbers, can receive a refund. We check the numbers with you before filing so a refund isn't held up. The IRS says most refunds arrive in less than 21 days when you e-file with direct deposit; you can follow yours with Where's My Refund? and New York's refund status page.

Filing When English Is Hard

Tax forms and IRS letters are written in English, and a small misunderstanding can mean a missed credit or a letter months later. At our office you can ask about any line of your return in Bangla or English, bring a family member if that helps, and leave knowing what was filed and why.

  • We explain every number before you sign, and you get a copy of each return we file.
  • We read IRS and New York State letters with you and explain what they ask for.
  • You can ask the IRS to send its letters in Bengali by attaching Schedule LEP to your return (Bengali is code 017). For a free interpreter, call the IRS at 833-553-9895 or the New York State Tax Department at 518-453-8137.
  • Paid preparers must sign the return and include their IRS preparer tax identification number (PTIN). Check that yours does, wherever you file.

More on this in our post on filing taxes when English isn't your first language.

Extensions, Payments and IRS Letters

If you can't file by April 15, 2027, an extension (federal Form 4868 and New York Form IT-370) gives you until October 15, 2027 to file. Any tax you owe is still due in April, so we estimate it with you and help you pay on time to limit interest and penalties.

IRS Direct Pay and your IRS Online Account take payments from a bank account. Individuals can no longer enroll in EFTPS and are being moved off it during 2026, which matters if you pay estimated tax that way (IRS fact sheet FS-2026-02).

If the IRS or New York sends you a letter after you file, bring it in. We explain what it says, in Bangla or English, and help you answer it on time.

Protect Your Return With an IP PIN

An Identity Protection PIN is a six-digit number that stops anyone else from filing a return with your Social Security number or ITIN. Anyone with an SSN or ITIN who can verify their identity can get one, fastest through the IRS Online Account, and it changes every calendar year (IRS: get an Identity Protection PIN).

Who Files With Us

Common Questions

When are 2026 taxes due in New York?

Federal and New York State returns for tax year 2026 are due Thursday, April 15, 2027. An extension moves the filing deadline to October 15, 2027, but not the deadline to pay.

Can I file my taxes in Bangla?

Yes. The returns are filed in English, but you can go through your whole return with us in Bengali (Bangla) and ask about any line before you sign.

Do I need a bank account to get my refund?

Almost always. The IRS generally stopped mailing paper refund checks after September 30, 2025. A low-cost bank account, or a prepaid card or app with routing and account numbers, can receive a refund.

Can I file with an ITIN instead of a Social Security number?

Yes, you can file and pay with an ITIN. Some benefits need a Social Security number that is valid for work, such as the Child Tax Credit, while New York's Empire State Child Credit accepts an ITIN.

Do I pay New York City tax if I live in Queens?

Yes. Queens is one of New York City's five boroughs, so Queens residents pay New York City income tax. It is figured on your New York State return, so most people don't file a separate city form.

Where can I file my taxes in Jamaica, Queens?

At Hillside Accounting Services, 167-13 Hillside Ave, 2nd Floor, Jamaica, NY 11432, about two blocks from the 169 St station on the F train. Call (646) 403-6500 to book, or ask for a virtual appointment.
